Our goal is to create an inclusive community for people at any stage of their journey, where you can feel comfortable asking questions without fear of judgment.
We bring over 50 years of combined experience in audio engineering, business management and strategy, content creation, and organic growth strategy. We've worked with individuals, small businesses, nationally-known non-profits, corporations, TV shows, and even some recent rocket launches.
As introverts, we're a little bit quirky and awkward, and we own it. To make our services accessible to all, we've split our group into three sections: Podcast Editing School, The Community, and The Pro Group. This way, you can choose the sections that fit your needs without paying for anything you don't want. We don't put on expensive events or pad our libraries with infomercials or low-value content. We're focused on creating the best content available for podcast service pros, and investing in the success of our members.
While there are free communities out there, we believe that our community offers a premium experience with premium content. We've created a space that's free from the distractions of social media and encourages engaged users to be involved. We've carefully chosen the features and tools that we believe provide the best experience for our members.
By joining our community, you're investing in your personal and professional growth and gaining access to resources and support that can help you take your podcast editing skills and business to the next level. Additionally, we offer a free read-only option in our Podcast Production Community space, which allows anyone to read and benefit from the discussions in the group. However, only members have the ability to post and participate in the community.
Tansy Aster Academy is probably a good fit if:
We aren't going to be a fit for everyone. There's no judgment here (unless you're a jerk).
Since the Podcast Production Community is a monthly commitment, there is no money-back guarantee, you can simply cancel your membership.
Our Podcast Editing School and Pro Groups are backed by a 30 day money-back guarantee. We want you to make an informed decision and if you don't feel you're getting your money's worth in 30 days, contact us and we'll get it processed. You can look at it as a no-risk, 30 day trial to see if Tansy Aster Academy is right for you.
Yes, our community provides you with all the skills and knowledge needed to edit podcast audio. Our approach is DAW agnostic, meaning we focus on the skills and concepts used for editing audio rather than any specific software. We do have a complete course on using Izotope RX and its modules to clean up all types of podcast audio issues. While we currently have limited content on video editing, we're always looking to expand and improve our offerings. If video editing is of interest to you, please let us know, and we'll do our best to find someone who can contribute that type of content.
Podcast Editing: Level Up is our community-powered course that takes you through the editing process from start to finish. You'll learn how to use tools like Izotope RX, compression, EQ, de-essing, and more to clean up, mix, and master your podcast episodes. Our course also includes tips and tricks for making your edits sound natural and seamless to the listener. The course is community-powered, which means you'll have access to video demonstrations, live calls, and a community of fellow podcast editors to ask questions and get feedback from.
In the Podcast Editing School, you can expect to learn a range of concepts and approaches related to editing podcast audio. Our approach is DAW agnostic, meaning we focus on teaching you skills that can be applied across a range of different software. While our demonstrations may primarily use RX, Hindenburg, or Logic, depending on the topic, the goal is to provide you with a foundation of knowledge that can be applied in any DAW.
At first, the focus will primarily be on audio editing, but we're always looking to expand and improve our offerings. As we continue to grow, we'll be building up resources for video editing, and we'll have experts in the community who can provide advice in the meantime.
Your membership to Podcast Editing School includes access to a community-powered learning platform that combines traditional techniques like instructor-led videos, skills-based and experiential style learning with live calls and a community. You'll have access to on-demand instructional videos, live calls, and community support through our online platform. All video calls and instructional videos will be found on-demand in the Library section and will only be available to members of the Podcast Editing School.
You will have access to everything in the following spaces:
While we would love to have you in both groups, we don't recommend signing up for both at the same time. We suggest focusing on one group at a time to avoid overwhelming yourself. Our goal is to help you develop your editing skills first and then shift your focus to the business side. However, the decision is ultimately yours, and you're welcome to join both groups simultaneously if you feel ready for the challenge.
The motivation for creating Podcast Editing School was to provide practical and comprehensive training for podcast editors. Many existing courses were either too basic or too specialized, and there was a lack of reliable information on how to edit and produce high-quality audio specifically for podcasts.
As a self-taught audio engineer, I understand the challenges of trying to learn on your own, especially when it comes to understanding technical concepts. Many editors don't want to be audio engineers and don't care about the difference between an opto, FET, tube, or VCA type compressor. They want to know which style is best for podcasting and how to set it up quickly.
The focus of Podcast Editing School is on practical, hands-on learning that goes beyond just the technical details and provides a community for students to get their questions answered and receive support.
Running a successful business requires more than learning some skills and understanding the concepts behind business operations. If you join our Pro Group membership, you will have access to coaching and resources to help you run your business. Our team of experts brings over 50 years of combined experience in audio engineering, business management and strategy, content creation, and organic growth strategy. We'll share our insights and experiences to help you learn from our mistakes and successes. We can't guarantee success, but we'll provide you with the tools and knowledge to give you the best chance to succeed. The rest is up to you.
While starting our own editing business, we joined various groups inside and outside the podcast space to tap into their collective knowledge. We found that many of you are facing the same frustrations over and over, but can't find answers on how to avoid them. So few of the experts are willing to open up and share their knowledge and experience, perhaps they fear that helping the competition will hurt them. We just know we don't see a lot of conversation about bigger, deeper threats to our businesses.
We created The Pro Group to provide a safe space for podcast service providers to connect, learn, and grow together. Our goal is not to tell you how to run your business, but to provide you with the knowledge, experience, and resources to make the best decisions for you.
